Spring Term 1

English - Colour Poems

We have had great fun using our senses of taste, touch, hearing, smell and sight to describe and then create beautiful poems about colours. We used the Dream Room to listen to raging volcanoes for the colour red and went into the school gardens to use our senses describe green colours. We even enjoyed tasting a variety of foods in red, yellow, green and blue - even blue ice!

Maths - Multiplcation and Division

3H have been learning their 3 x tables and will go on to learn their 4 and 8 x tables during the Spring Term and will continue until the end of the year. To make this fun we have been using a variety of methods, such as singing along to MathsRoxx songs which are based on real pop songs. The songs are so catchy that we have remembered our times tables very well! We have also been celebrating beating our personal bests when reciting the 3 x tables by slam dunking a basketball hoop that we keep in class. We are very proud of our children's efforts and we hope you are too.

Check out our performance of the 3 Times tables to ‘Up Town Funk’

Safety Week – W/C 9th October 2017

This week we have been looking at keeping safe.

We started the week with a visit from a lady called Helen from the NSPCC. Helen introduced us to 'Buddy' the speech bubble. Buddy was a reminder to us to always speak out. She also told us, when things aren't going well or we feel like we need to talk we must let an adult know.

We also had a E-Safety workshop from Hi-Impact. We watched a video called Hector’s world and listened to the key messages about keeping personal information offline. We discussed what personal information is and ways to keep this safe. We then used an app called Chatterkids to create safety message to share out advice!

In class we looked at other ways to stay safe. We look at safety in the home and talked about the different hazards we may come across and ways we can prevent them from causing us any home. We also looked at ways to stay safe around open water and what to do in an emergency and we spent some time finding out about different drugs/medicines and their uses. Looking carefully at the packets and bottle we recognised their danger and discussed when and who might need to use them.

Finally, we had a workshop from Rose from Cross Right. To talk about road safety. We discussed the danger that we might come across when crossing busy roads and way in which we can keep ourselves safe.
