Key Information

Our class teacher is Mrs Metcalfe and our LSA is Mrs Riding.

 

Our PE day is currently Thursday.  Reading books are sent home on Thursdays and must be returned on Monday morning.

Children will receive weekly spellings on a Friday and we will have a spelling test each Monday.

Summer term

 

We have a busy term ahead of us. In English we will be learning how to write an explanation text. We will be learning a text called 'Why dragons are extinct'.  We will also be looking at the work if the poet Brian Patten and writing newspaper report.

 

In maths we will be exploring fractions and decimal, time and shape. We will be using bar models to help us to answer questions and  solve problems.

 

In our topic lessons we will be learning about the Anglo-Saxons.

 

Our next RE theme is reconciliation, the topic is Building Bridges. The big question we will be trying to answer is 'Why are bridge- builders important in life?'

Explanation texts

Spring 2

 

Our topic work will focus on Ancient Egypt. We will look at hieroglyphics, mummification and Tutankhamen.

 

In English we will study the author Anne Fine. We will also look at explanation texts. 

Autumn 2

 

Our topic this half term is Food Glorious Food.

Just before half term your child took home an information pack which included your homework task for this half term. We look forward to seeing your food diaries.

 

RE

Our RE topic is 'Gifts'. We have looked at the gift of friendship and what makes a good friend. We are looking at the Gift God sent sent to us at the first Christmas, Jesus.

Autumn 1

In RE our topics have been 'People' and Judaism.

 

In English we have been reading the book 'The Great Kapok Tree'. We have done a lot of work describing the setting and the charcters. We have used similies and expanded noun phrases.
