Nursery 1 have made a fantastic start to the year. All the returning Nursery 1 children have settled wonderfully straight back into the routine of nursery. Those who are new starters this year are enjoying their settling in period and have been busy exploring and investigating their new surroundings. All children are beginning to become familiar with their new daily routine and have already began to form new friendships as well as building positive relationships with their teachers Miss Blaker and Cindy.
Following an initial period of settling in and getting to know each other, we have now introduced the children to the topic 'Myself'. The children have enjoyed a wide range of experiences including looking at who is in their family, painting self portraits and drawing around their friends on roll paper. The children have also engaged with exploring where their body parts are on our bodies, they have learnt songs and stories to help them remember.
Our RE focus for this term is 'Myself'. We have all enjoyed getting to know each other and our names and looking at the letters that are in their name, so they can begin to recognise their own name. The children have had lots opportunities to share interesting facts about themselves as well as expressing their likes and preferences.
Whilst the children have been settling in and exploring the environment , we have been observing their interests and therefore our planning builds upon the children's interest and enables us to extend their learning.
We are all very excited for the year ahead and all it has to offer.
