English - Discovery Narrative Description
Today we will be firstly reading the first part of Darwin's exploration of the Galapagos Islands before looking at the use of formal (posh) words and language within the Darwin exploration of Brazil text.
Lesson Focus - To compare formal and informal language used within our narrative discovery text.
Using the below video, power points and sheet (or a piece of paper) to find meanings, similar formal synonym words using a dictionary or internet search and match more informal words.
Science - Material Properties and Changes
Lesson Starter:
Lesson Focus - Material dissolving in water to form solutions.
Using the below power point slides, video and sheet (or this could be done on a piece of paper) we will be mixing different materials to water and stirring to see if they dissolve (soluble) or if they don't dissolve (remain visible and still separate - insoluble).
Materials/Equipment needed - water, transparent cups (ideally plastic, be careful if using glass), stirring spoon, flour, salt, sugar, pepper, sand, coffee granules and rice (or materials to stir in water of your choice).
