English - New Text Genre Focus - Discovery Narrative Description

This week we will be reading and learning about a Voyage of scientific discovery across the world using books and narrative recounts of these explorers and their findings. Next week we will be using this week's reading and understanding to write a third person narrative, describing the scientific discovery of a new creature species from this journey!

Lesson Focus - Introduction, entry point and text predictions.

Follow the lesson slides to see pictures that give clues and suggest our new book genre. What do you think each picture means? Complete the sheet table or even write your answers on a piece of paper before trying to write a paragraph prediction about our new book. You will then find the first section of our book to read on the second power point below.

Reading Lesson
Our reading lessons this half term all link to our science topic of Evolution and Inheritance.
Maths
Today we are learning about substitutions.  Watch the video below and then complete the questions from the sheet.  Do questions 1, 2, 3 and 4 first.  If you are finding it tricky, stop after question 4, but if you want to challenge yourself, complete the rest of the questions on the sheet.

RE - Unity

REVEAL – The Eucharist challenges and enables the Christian family to live and grow in communion every day.

At the end of REVEAL: Children may be able to make links and show they understand the links between scripture and the Eucharist. They may be able to use a developing religious vocabulary to give reasons for the actions and symbols of the Communion Rite and say why Christians gather together in ‘communion’ and receive ‘Holy Communion’. They may show they understand this and how it shapes the lives of Christians.

Please work through the Powerpoint below.
