During our time in year 1, we will be observing the changes across the four seasons. We will be considering the weather in each season and how our environment changes during, Spring, Summer, Autumn and Winter.
As we are currently in the Autumn term, we are beginning our scientific research of the seasons with Autumn.
This week we are going to be looking at the rainfall during the week and creating a fair test. We will be collecting rain water over a period of 3 days, repeating the activity in the Winter, Spring and Summer term, comparing the levels of rainfall in each season.
We will also be selecting a tree in our school yard and will be observing the tree during each season. We will be sketching an image of the chosen tree and will focus on the trunk, branches and leaves of the tree.
We will be asking the question, 'How can we tell what season we are in, from looking at a tree?
