Reading: Grandpa's Garden

This week, we are reading the text 'Grandpa's Garden' by Stella Fry.

Complete the tasks and upload to class dojo.

1. What do the words mean? (vocabulary)

2. Can you read it? (fluency)

3. Can you read the text and answer the questions? (apply)

Maths - Make equal groups - grouping (recap)

Science - Can I label a plant? (LESSON 1)

 

What do you already know about plants?

Discuss the basic features of a plant and some of their uses. Create a mind map of ideas – what do we already know about plants?

Work through the PowerPoint below and identify the key parts of a plant and the job of each part.

Go to an outside space and identify different flowers, plants and features of them. 

 

Activity –

Can you draw a  diagram of a plant and label it (preferably an observational drawing of a specimen). Add any facts you know about what job that part of the plant has. (roots, stem, petal / flower / leaf)
