At St. Christopher's Primary School we pride ourselves on our huge sporting successes. Along with numerous extra-curricular sporting sessions, pupils enjoy a broad variety of activities during their weekly PE sessions.
Children have at least one PE session each week, in which we develop the six areas of activity as set out in the National Curriculum - Dance, Gymnastics, Games, Athletics, Outdoor & Adventurous and Swimming. Our broad PE Curriculum promotes participation in a wide range of different sports that change throughout the course of the year. These include football, tennis, hockey, rounders, basketball, badminton, netball and cricket.
Years 3-6 enjoy a 10 week block of swimming sessions each year, at our local pool. The talented coaches strive to ensure that all children can swim at least 25 metres before leaving primary school. If children are unable to achieve this before the end of Year 6, children take part in top-up sessions in the summer term to give them every opportunity to reach their goal. Pupils thoroughly enjoy these sessions.

Eight of our Juniors played in a new sporting competition yesterday, called New Age Kurling. The children had to accurately push their stones towards the target spot. Mrs Elsworth was amazed by the accuracy of the children's pushing. They showed immense teamwork skills as they worked out a winning formula as the afternoon progressed. The team beat Bluberry Park 7-3. Drew their second game against Lawrence CP 4-4 and beat their final opponents New Park 6-1. The undefeated team said;
"It was really good to try a new sport and we were really good at it" Courtney Morgan.
"It was exciting to play against teams from other schools. I was nervous at first, but it was lots of fun!" Mark Brown.

YEAR 5 / 6 Sportshall Athletics Heat
Year 5 / 6 Sportshall Athletics Team
Mrs Elsworth would like to applaud the fantastic Sportshall Athletics team that proudly represented St Christopher's School today at Broadgreen International School. The team showed outstanding passion, talent and teamwork throughout the afternoon. 23 Year 5 and 6 pupils took part in a variety of events which tested their stamina, speed, strength and agility. For some pupils it was their first time in representing the school at a sporting event. The team came third in their heat and congratulate the winners Holy Trinity who will represented the South of the City in the Liverpool Final next Monday. Only 5 points separated the top three teams, with the organiser Jason Evans stating it was the closest heat of the week. The Year 5 participants are looking forward to next year's event where they will take part as Year 6 pupils.
Outstanding performances from the afternoon were:
Our 4 x 1 Lap Over and Under Relay Race consisting of Lewis Westray, Dennis Davies, Aaron Cummings and Michael Nguemale won the first race of the day, showing agility, speed and teamwork. This set us on the road for an exciting and successful afternoon.
Aaron lamb threw an impressive distance of 7.5 metres in the Chest Push, medicine ball Field event. This set a new record for the event this year, astounding the judges! Over 25 schools have taken part the competition this week.
