The Big Trust

This has been a very exciting year for us as we have developed a new partnership with the charity 'The Big Trust'. The Big Trust is a charity who work to build long lasting relationships between business and the community.

“Established as a charity in 2016, we exist to unite businesses and leaders to bring about long-lasting positive change for our most deprived communities.By coming together with a shared purpose, we enhance the life chances of those who need it most by challenging, inspiring and changing the way businesses behave and act.By sparking a big new movement for ethical enterprise, together we will be a disruptive force for positive change for our most disadvantaged communities and people.”

Liverpool John Lennon Airport

Our main new partnership is with Liverpool John Lennon Airport and we have already begun to strengthen this new relationship. Through the airport we have:

  •  taken part in a Work Inspiration Day for our year 6s at the airport (see below)
  • the introduction of the teddy Mr Wings to Year 3 and his travel diary, which the children take home each weekend, to write and draw in and share their adventures.
  • First Aid sessions for Year 5 delivered by the Firefighters at the Airport
  • Visits to the airport for our Year 1 classes, linked with their History Topic 'Up in the Air - the first airplane flight'.
  • And we have plans for CV writing sessions for our parents delivered by the airport's HR staff and a school garden project working alongside volunteers from the airport.

Year 6 Work Inspiration Days

In addition, a key part of our work with The Big Trust is delivering Work Inspiration Days for our Year 6 children. These link perfectly with our curriculum drivers of Possibilities and Growth. They aim to introduce our children to the work of world, open their eyes to the many different roles and responsibilities within a single company and broaden their horizons for the future. This year, the children have taken part in the following Work Inspiration Days:

  • Work Inspiration at Marks and Spencer.
  • Work Inspiration at Liverpool John Lennon Airport.
  • Work Inspiration at Merseytravel.
  • Work Inspiration at Morgan Sindall.
