Good morning,

As we are unable to be in school today (27/11/24) while our heating is fixed, I am providing some suggested activities for children to have a go at completing at home. I would love for children's efforts to be shared with me on class dojo.

https://ttrockstars.com/ (We need to move up that leaderboard!)🤞

Have a go at practising subtraction column method. https://vimeo.com/731049925 (I hope this works)

You could practise your handwriting, writing sentences including the spellings.

Do some research using books/internet and make a fact-file about Mountains , Light or The Epic of Gilgamesh.

If you're feeling active you could try some cosmic yoga or PE with Joe Wicks. (Found on Google).

Read a favourite or new book you haven't read before.

If you need any support accessing anything just let me know.

Thank you for your support and understanding,

Miss Gargan.😊🌈

Phonics

Phonics is taught daily in school and here at St Christophers we use a scheme called Read Write Inc (RWI). RWI is a structured and systematic approach which is designed to create fluent readers and willing writers. Children will gain confidence speaking aloud by practising to read letters (or groups of letters) and saying the sounds which they represent.  It is vital these phonemes (sounds) are pronounced correctly.  Children will read words by blending the sounds together.

Children will be given home reading books after they have read a particular book several times during their RWI lessons. This will either be every 3 or 5 every days, depending on their group level.  Your child's group teacher will let your child know when to return their book.

E books are also allocated regularly to the Oxford Owl website and are available to read by logging in.  All children should have a log in as this is the same as previous years.  If you are unsure or don't have a log in please let me know.

For further information regarding RWI visit www.oxfordowl.co.uk

READING BOOKS:

Can children please bring in their book bags each day. We will listen to them read as often as possible and change books accordingly. Thank you!

P.E

Our PE day this year is Monday. The school PE kit is available from Lazer School Wear, St Mary’s Road in Garston.  This is a red t-shirt with the school badge and school blue shorts.  However, your child can also wear a plain red t-shirt and dark blue shorts that are available from most supermarkets.

This is part of our school uniform and must be worn for PE lessons.

Football kits and other sportswear will not be allowed.

The children can wear any training shoes for PE.

*Please ensure all kit is clearly labelled with your child's name.

Dojos are given to those children who are wearing their full correct kit.smiley

Homework Menu

Every half term, a homework menu will be shared, with a selection of tasks for the children to engage in and complete at home. These will be tasks relating to school learning from across all areas of the curriculum. Children can work on as many of the activities as they wish, but it is requested that they complete at least one each half term and hand it in or share on class dojos. All completed work will be celebrated.

Spellings

Spellings will be given out each Monday and children should practise these at home (and in school) as much as possible throughout the week.  We will have a short informal test on a Monday afternoon.
